Recycle your booster packaging 🃏

After several months spent coding my robotI lacked creativity. On the occasion of the release of the chapter Lorcana's Winterspell it's time to sort through the boosters that have been set aside.

So, if you're also a TCG fan and don't know what to do with your boosters, I'll give you a little idea to showcase them! Obviously, what applies to Lorcana applies to all TCGs (Magic, Pokemon, One Piece...).

The idea is as follows:

Use the boosters in custom 3D frames

A brief preamble:

Trading card games have the advantage of working in themed chapters. What's really great is having a different look with each release. Lorcana's Winterspell and its winter hues have a completely different feel than Reign of Jafar. Might as well widen the gap by continuing with the collection trend.

While browsing Pinterest, all I saw were booster packs stored behind glass or in a binder. Given the quality of the illustrations and the overall aesthetic, I think it's a real waste!

The step-by-step instructions:

You will need:

  • a frame (Make sure you have enough space to fit all the boosters)
  • color papers (Personally, I painted white sheets with Ecoline; the intensity is great and I can create nice gradients.)
  • scissors
  • glue (super glue or varnish glue)
  • cardboard
  • 3D elements sharing interesting textures and colors for your series (for example for Lorcana's Winterspell : cotton flowers, for Whispers in the Well : glitters...)

First, I set aside 3 boosters from the same collection (Azurite Sea for my part). You can also use the deck packaging 😉. I cut out a title and the characters. On a sheet of yellow paper, I glue my characters. The yellow background helps to highlight the blue and creates an interesting parallel with sand. I close the frame and then glue the collection title right in the middle. Everything will revolve around it.

Once the structure is in place, I can move on to the fun part: creating the 3D elements. Since I love flower frames, I decide to build everything around them. Because of their summery colors and the fact that they grow on the beach in Disney Dreamlight ValleyI then turned my attention to hydrangeas. Since I had some green crepe paper lying around, I took the opportunity to cut some seaweed. Furthermore, the nautical symbolism was quite easy: I cut out an anchor and a ship's wheel from cardboard. Finally, pirates wouldn't be complete without ropes, so I fashioned a mini net and cut a few lengths.

All that's left is to glue everything together harmoniously. And here's the final result 👇!

Stay tuned, more custom designs are coming! I have 10 more frames to create 😉. And if this has inspired you to do the same with your collection, feel free to share it with me here on Facebook or by email at fantasticove@hyada.fr 🎨
